One Year Uncommon Life Challenge

Tony Dungy's devotional, "The One Year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge" is the perfect devotional for the special man in your life. Dungy's devotional is all about being uncommon - not going with the flow in a world led by secularism, but rising above the common man in a life that means more. This devotional is a 365 day devotional, and is an easy way for a busy businessman/dad/husband to fit a daily devotional into his busy life. The format of the devotionals are perfect - each day offers a scripture, short (usually around half of a page) devotion about that scripture, and an "uncommon key", where the message is summed up. Overall, each devotional is only one page long, but packs some very profound messages. Dungy touches on issues such as drinking alcohol, family relationships, and how to impact the world in a positive way. Wonderfully written, and a great tool for any man. The only think about it I wasn't crazy about was the the devotional goes by days, so the book starts with January 1. Obviously not everyone will buy this book before January 1st to start it in the new year. I give this book a 4.5/5. Great job, Tony!

Proverbs Reconstructed

"Proverbs Reconstructed" is an awesome reference book for the book of Proverbs. What Gus Dallas has done in this book is categorically list the various topics referenced in the book of Proverbs by subject matter. The topics that are covered range from anger, confidence, death, friendship, and prophecy, to name a few. This book will make an awesome reference for me, personally, when I am searching for Biblical reference to certain topics, it makes it super easy to find Biblical guidance on any topic. All of the verses come from the book of Proverbs, and are listed with their subject matter, and the chapter and verse are listed, so you can easily cross reference with your Bible. I absolutely love this, and will be using it quite often! Dallas did a wonderful job of breaking down the book of Proverbs and categorizing it well! Love it!

Smitten

"Smitten" is a romantic story of the transformation of a logging mill town that has to recreate itself when the mill closes down. Four friends come up with the idea to take advantage of the name of the town, and create a honeymoon getaway. The story is well written, and very enjoyable. I really loved the story itself, and literally didn't want to put the book down! This is a great romance novel for anyone, as it has a great storyline. The personal conflicts and characters' backstories are very realistic and believable, and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic novels. A wonderful read!!

Fierce Beauty

"Fierce Beauty" by Kim Meeder is an interesting compilation of Kim's personal stories and how she learned to lean on God through her own struggles. This book is actually a very interesting read, and I enjoyed the book. Usually I am not such a huge fan of books that are solely about someone's own personal struggles, but Kim focuses on a lot of issues that women in our times face, such as weight and beauty. I appreciated that Kim was honest about her own struggles, and her own realizations give hope for others who have been or are in similar situations. There is so much pressure on women in our society to be "beautiful" and most women will try to meet those standards at any cost. This book addresses that false "beauty", and tells Kim's amazing story. I really enjoyed this book and think it would be a great gift for a young woman. I'd give it 5/5!
